Learning to live

This might seem like a no brainer, but... Many of us have forgotten how to live. We choose suffering over living. We feel that these horrible things and events of our past will propel us forward, but they only anchor us into moments that we have no control over. We also anchor oursevles into the worst possible outcome for situations without ever looking at any other alternative or solution. We have chosen suffering over living, and it is time to reverse that flow. Now, a lot of people will tell you to let go of the past, but I am going to tell you to do something differnt, do not let go. Hold on to it as long as you want, but shift your way of thinking about the situation. There is a lesson, or some good that has come from almost everything in our lives. When we learn to find the smallest grain of appreciation in that moment, it shifts that moments control (or energy) in relation to us. We deconstruct the negative control that we have given to that moment, and have now shifted it into something positive. Now this can be easier said that done (trust me, I know!). You have to try. We do not get anywhere, and certainly do not get any happier by dropping anchor in a landfill--but if you plant flowers in that landfill, or a garden how much sweeter the smell.

Learning to live, is about learning to be present in this moment. Learning to be awake even when you might feel like curling up into a ball and falling asleep. We have this moment, and really that is all we currently have. How will you use the "present" you are given?
